Department of Arabic
The Department of Arabic of M.M.E.S Women’s Arts and Science College was established in the year 2015. This is a three year degree course affiliated to Thiruvalluvar University, serkaddu, Vellore.
Arabic language is one of the most leading spoken languages in the world. It is spoken as an official language in 25 Arab Countries.
The Department offers Part-I Arabic for Under Graduate Arts and Science Students. The Course Combines theory with Practice to develop knowledge and imbibe communication skill. Emphasis is equally placed on all four of the basic language skills: reading, listening comprehension, speaking, and writing. After completion, the Students are eligible to take up Master’s degree in Arabic studies. Our faculty are well-rounded Individuals who are committed, hardworking with a passion for teaching-learning and they contribute to the Students’ success.
The department has organized several programmes that include seminars, workshops, guest lectures and special lectures of Arab delegates and renowned scholars since its inception.
Vision
- Our Aim is to develop Linguistic proficiency in Semitic language and its Culture, Critical thinking, and to motivate students excel in academics and achieve their Goals thereby Empowering the Womenfolk.
- Treat Arabic language and literature in a broad humanistic context to examine them with reference to the cultures and cultural traditions to inculcate in students advanced abilities to utilize Arabic language for a multiplicity of purposes in a rapidly changing world to meet national developmental needs and global challenges.
Mission
- To impart a thorough grounding in written and spoken Modern Standard Arabic and to equip Students with a knowledge of history and culture of Arabs.
- To imbibe cultural and Moral Ethics among the students.
- To encourage students to opt for Higher Education in Arabic Literature and Islamic studies to serve the community.
- To shape their future by instilling values to help the future Generation.
- In keeping with the mission of the College, the Department of Arabic draws on its multicultural strengths and values to develop and maintain a highly dynamic atmosphere of excellence in scholarship in the language of Arabic through effective teaching, learning, generation of ideas, and knowledge dissemination.
